The following Q & A has been put together to help answer some of the questions you may have in regard to Internet Nanny. Internet Nanny also sells as Internet Watchdog for those wanting to use the software to improve home security.
- Q - What do I need to do to setup Internet Nanny?
- A - Check to make sure that your computer meets all of the minimum requirements needed to run Internet Nanny. Next download your FREE copy of Internet Nanny through this site. Follow the setup instructions that come with the software to install it on your computer.
- Q - Does Internet Nanny take pictures all the time?
- A - No, Internet Nanny monitors the images from your camera and as soon as it sees a change from one frame to the next it begins recording the images and uploading them to our server.
- Q - Do I need to be online for Internet Nanny to work?
- A - Yes, when you leave for the day dial on to the internet and start Internet Nanny, if we had Internet Nanny dial on to the internet when it started recording, your ISP may take too long in connecting you for Internet Nanny to upload the pictures.
- Q - What happens if the the connection to the internet is broken?
- A - Images will stop being uploaded to our server.
- Q - Do I need to be concerned with room lighting?
- A - Yes, Internet Nanny will get the best images from a well lit room, just as any camera will.
- Q - How should I aim the camera?
- A - Make sure that the camera is pointed into the middle of the room or toward any area in particular that you want to monitor movement.
- Q - What happens if I come into the room and the camera starts taking my picture?
- A - The images of you will be uploaded to the server, these images however will not be viewed by anyone. Only images that you request from the web site (using your User ID and Password) will be viewed by anyone.
- Q - How clear are the images?
- A - That depends only on the system you have. The better your computer and more importantly, the better the camera will be what determines the quality of the images.
- Q - How many pictures will Internet Nanny take if an intruder is detected?
- A - Internet Nanny takes 10 frames per second, however if lighting conditions are low or your computer or internet connection are slower Internet Nanny could slow to 1 per second. Images are recorded at the first sign of movement and will continue as long as it detects movement or until shut down.
- Q - How many images are saved using Internet Nanny?
- A - Our server will hold 200 pictures taken by Internet Nanny at a time. This means that 20 seconds worth of images could be recorded and uploaded to the server for safe storage.
- Q - What happens to older pictures?
- A - Because Internet Nanny records 200 images the oldest ones will be over written to make room for the new ones. There will always be 200 of your images maintained on the server.
